Some specific examples of how we use the iPad camera in Stage 2 White across the curriculum.
For the small group of ESL students in the class we use pictures of familiar and not so familiar things around the school to illustrate vocabulary words and ask the students to match the words to the pictures and pronounce the words.
In Science, pictures are taken of the Life Cycles of the Butterfly and the Frog by the students in groups, obviously over a period of time. A great way for them to visualise and reinforce their knowledge and understanding. (ACSSU072)
In Literacy the students were asked to compose a story using Word and and to then take a photo that illustrated their story. They then had to upload their photos onto the word document. Then the students were asked to upload their stories onto the class blog so everyone had an opportunity to read each one.(ACELY1682)(ACELY1685)(ACELY1697)
Maths- Geometry/shapes. the students were placed into groups and each group was asked to take photos of every day things that are examples of angles, measurements and shapes. Then they had to upload them and create a Power Point Presentation to present to the rest of the class.(ACMMG064)(ACMMG091)
Art/Drama. To create a sequence of events depicting Captain Cooks arrival in 1770. Students were placed into groups and given a specific scene to create. Each scene was photographed and then uploaded and used in an iMovie presentation. As a class we developed a commentary and it was recorded with background music. (DRAS2.3 Sequences the action of the drama to create meaning for an audience.) Creative Arts Bostes. (ACHHS071) History.
